DHANBAD: A controversy erupted here on Sunday after the video of a GM-ranked official of the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL), which showed him removing the shoes and fixing the pajamas of a Union minister, went viral. The viral video was taken when Union minister of state for coal Satish Chandra Dubey was about to enter the underground mine at Munidhi. The BCCL official involved declined to comment on the incident, saying he would speak only after watching the clip.
Responding to the viral video, Dhanbad district Congress president, Santosh Singh, expressed his shock at the incident and sought the minister's apology for demeaning an officer of the BCCL. Singh also sarcastically suggested that the minister should promote the official to the rank of CMD, "disregarding all rules, as a reward for sycophancy".During his visit, the minister inspected subsidence-prone areas near Sendra-Bansjora, the fire patch of the Ena colliery, and the underground mine at Munidih. He also inaugurated a mini science lab set up under the CSR scheme of the CIL at a govt high school in Rajganj.
